How to root LG G Flex 2, LG G3, G2, G Pro 2 on Android 5.0 Lollipop and KitKat

The LG, in a handful of variants across several countries around the globe.

 

Note #1: Rooting is essential for installing third-party root apps, custom ROMs and latest system tweaks on your LG. However, users are advised to beware that rooting voids hardware warranty of the device, as it triggers the flash counter whenever the stock firmware is modified or any third-party tool is installed.

 

Note #2: this guide is tested on 5.02 , and got my phone rooted using LG_One_Click_Root msi. ioroot did nothing, and Kingo Root failed, but that was before I got the 4.1.11 drivers from LG below.

Pre-requisites

King Root instructions

After installing it on your computer, double click the desktop icon of KingoROOT and launch the software and follow teh instructions.
It will take a few minutes for KingoRoot to run its course. It will try every possible script till it succeed or fail.

Root LG G2 without PC (failed to fully install)

  1. Navigate to Settings-> General Tab-> Security and tap on “Unknown Resources”
  2. Next you have to navigate to Settings -> General Tab -> “About Phone” -> “Software information” and Quickly tap “Build Number” for atleast 7 times.
  3. Next go to “Developers options” in Settings and turn on “USB Debugging”
  4. Now you have to download and Install StumpRoot apk from here
  5. After installing StumpRoot open it from App Drawer and Tap on “Grind” and Tap “OK” when it asks for bruteforce.
  6. It may take upto 10 minutes to Root you LG G2, you can put your phone anywhere safe and have a Cup of tea of coffee if you like.
  7. Once your phone gets rooted, perform a Reboot and install SuperSU by chainfire from the Playstore.
  8. Congratulations, you have successfully rooted your LG G2.

 

Install TWRP in LG G2

Installing TWRP is also very simple and required only a couple of steps to be performed. This is only for LG G2 running official KitKat firmware. If you are still running Jellybean, upgrade to kitkat before proceeding.
  1. Download latest TWRP recovery image from the link given below. Make sure you select the right recovery image appropriate to your phone’s Model Number.
  2. Download and install Flashify app from the link given below
  3. Open Flashify app, tap on “Recovery image” and select the twrp img file you just downloaded.
  4. Tap yes on every popup and it will install TWRP recovery to your LG G2.
  5. Now you can reboot to the recovery mode and make sure that you have TWRP.
